Reiki- a way to strengthen mind, body and soul

Reiki is a Japanese modality that made it’s way to the United States in the 1900s. Translated, rei- means universal life and -ki means energy. It’s a healing therapy using symbols to channel universal energy; a gentle force with little to no touch yet powerful results.

To be honest, everyone has the ability to conjure universal energy and I frequently did as an intuitive healer during massage sessions. Reiki training introduced tools to effectively channel that force with intention and focused attention. Reiki empowers us to heal ourselves and improve the physical, emotional and mental level.

After learning the history and my lineage to usuiReiki, I received the attunement which is a process where the Reiki Master opens channels in the hands and chakras to allow a direct connection to reiki energy. I concentrated on my heart and envisioned a lotus flower in it’s place opening like a time lapse video on repeat with each bloom receiving luminous magic. I was going to use this magic for an acute episode of low back pain that I assumed manifested as a practice tool. After a short session I noticed the pain intensified and then subsided to a subtle annoyance.

The tools I learned in Reiki II were three symbols aimed at healing the physical, spiritual, and distant body. The distance symbol is likened to prayer and healing can be sent across any distance as well as through time to previous or future events. For example in practice, using reiki on surgical scars or sending reiki to an upcoming travel engagement. I heard an anecdote in massage school about a therapist used distance healing and they astonishingly felt when the patient momentarily left the table and when they returned. This was across the country!

In the end, reiki energy flows where it needs to go. Similar to plant medicine, reiki quiets the mind and strengthens the connection between ourselves and the energy to create harmony. It’s is offered as a complementary therapy in hospitals and easily integrates with massage.

5 Reasons Why You Should Try Cannabis Infused Massage Therapy

5 Reasons Why You Should Try Cannabis Infused Massage Therapy

Written by Travis

We need to dispel a common myth before we can talk about why you should try cannabis infused massage therapy. The products that are used by the massage therapist will not get you stoned, it is more of a way to open up your skin’s sensory profile, which leads to many other health benefits.

Given enough time for these topicals to take effect, and you wind up feeling revived, refreshed, as your tendons and muscles begin to heal from the combination of deep tissue massage and cannabis infused products.

Before we talk about the reasons why you should try a cannabis infused massage, we need to discuss what this type of unique therapy is all about.

A professional and therapeutic massage will soothe more than a tired body, it can also heal the soul. There is something therapeutic about being massaged, so when the massage therapist knows exactly how to relieve and relax stressed muscles, the end result is you feel alive again.

The ambiance of the massage clinic is just as crucial as the service, and proper lighting, music, and scents will amplify the overall experience, creating deep relaxation that allows the massage therapist to work more efficiently.

It only stands to reason that cannabis, which is known for restorative and properties, goes hand-in-hand with massage. Scientific basis for marijuana pain relief makes it a no-brainer for the ideal complement to massage.

Here are the 5 reasons why you should try cannabis infused massage therapy:

1. The Anti-Inflammatory Properties – One reason you should consider a cannabis massage is the fact it can help heal certain ailments. Unlike marijuana which has high THC levels that have narcotic properties, the CBD in the cannabis massage oils oil has healing properties and little or no narcotic effects.

No only will you not be getting high during or after the massage, your body will benefit from just the healing anti-inflammatory properties of these oils. Combined with the deep therapeutic massage performed by a professional, you will begin to feel relief from the painful symptoms associated with arthritis or sports-related injuries.

The CBD in the cannabis oils works to soothe those sore joints, giving you a boost of energy and allowing you to feel like you are not having difficulties with your muscles and joints at all. The healing sensations of the massage are only amplified when the oils penetrate the skin and reach the areas that are causing pain.

2. Increased Sensory Stimulation – The muscles and joints react immediately to a massage, but add in the cannabis oils and your entire body and senses will be stimulated. The skin is the largest organ on the body, and it needs to be taken care of just like other organs to be able to keep you healthy and feeling strong each day.

A gentle massage with the cannabis infused oils will stimulate your skin and help you to feel more alert and alive. The massage therapist performs the treatment in a way that not only is the muscles and joints stimulated, the skin now comes to life and will perform more efficiently.

Skin cells are being produced every second of every day, and this cannabis massage will allow the old skin cells to fall away rather than clog your pores, helping to revitalize your skin, tighten the appearance so fine lines and wrinkles disappear, and improve overall skin tone.

The therapist can also incorporate many different unique essential oils like peppermint that will also help appeal to your sense of smell and heighten the overall experience.

3. Increased Muscle Relaxation – Everyone knows that after smoking weed the body goes into this deep state of relaxation. That is part of the allure of smoking weed, you eliminate the stresses of the day and fall into this euphoric state that allows you to easily deal with the troubles in your body or mind.

Now add into the mix a massage therapist who is gently rubbing cannabis oils deep into your skin, and you have one of the most therapeutic and relaxing experiences possible. In addition to stimulating the skin surface, the cannabis oils will relax muscles and ease any tension or pain that you are feeling.

This is perhaps one of the best ways to decompress after a long and stressful day at work. It will revitalize, rejuvenate, and replenish your body during one session without the sleepy sensations you feel after getting high. You get all the healing benefits without any of the narcotic sensations.

4. Alleviate Stress and Anxiety – One of the most common ailments people experience today is stress and anxiety. People are worried about their jobs, about their money, about their children, about their health, and the list goes on and on.

By the end of a day, the added stress that a person imagines in their mind begin to take a toll on their body too. The physical symptoms begin as nervousness and escalate to anxiety, which can lead to deep bouts of depression if not dealt with in a timely manner. When a person sees a professional therapist who performs cannabis massages, the treatments can go to work on eliminating many of those thoughts that are leading to stress in the first place.

The massages can put a person in a happy place, allow them to look forward to a reward each time, and wash away the stress that can lead to depression or even strokes. The cannabis massage is ideal for people of all legal ages, massage needs, and lifestyles.

5. Eliminating Chronic Pain – Those who suffer from chronic pain often turn to marijuana to help them to cope with the pains they feel on a daily basis. According to reports released by the Maryland Medical Center, they found that deep tissue massages can be more effective for relieving chronic pain than most conventional medicines.

The reason that the cannabis massage is such an effective method for dealing with any chronic pain is because it decrease the inflammation, increases blood flow throughout the affected areas, and soothes that tension in muscles associated with the chronic pain.

The cannabis massage is also beneficial for helping to reduce blood pressure, provides stress relief, and rehabilitates muscles patients have sustained from various injuries. During these massages, the cannabis oil acts like a natural aid to loosen muscles and allow faster healing. The cannabis oils help muscles to relax just a little easier.

So now you know about the cannabis massage and how it works to heal a number of physical and mental ailments patients experience. Massage itself is an amazing way to help the mind and the body of people, it just doesn’t unlock the pain from certain areas, it’s all connected.

As legalization continues to sweep the country, cannabis oil combined with relaxation massage will only help benefit more people.

“Jodie Marsh On… Drugs”

“Another of the women reveals she has turned her love of the drug into a business with a ‘cannabis infused massage therapy company’.” Read the full article here

Recently our Founder, Jordan Person was on an episode of a popular UK television show called “Jodie Marsh On Drugs” On this episode, Jodie Marsh investigates the new generation of legal highs in Jodie Marsh On…Drugs exclusive to TLC,  it aired on Wednesday 25th March at 10pm. Due to the fact it only aired overseas and throughout the UK we received our copies of the episode via royal mail shortly after the show was released.

“Meeting Jodie Marsh was a true delight, but changing her mind on her views of cannabis and medical marijuana was the highlight of my month”, says Ms. Person. Throughout the filming Jodie Marsh had the experience of joining six cannabusiness professionals  at a “smoking party.” All of the women featured in the segment are owners of successful cannabis businesses. Each of them had the opportunity to educate Ms. Marsh on the benefits of marijuana and how it has improved each of their daily lives. Each of them had very convincing testimony to not only what it has done for their personal lives but how it is now the center of their professional lives as well.

“We smoked at least four joints while being filmed and by the time they shut the cameras off I caught a major case of the giggles, Jodie started laughing at me and noticing my uncontrollable laughter.  All I could say in my own defense was “if this is the only side effect of all of the cannabis I just ingested then so be it.” I remember feeling three shades of red as my body flushed with embarrassment but I also remember feeling full of joy and I really couldn’t stop laughing” said Person.

The end result (in spite of the giggle fit) Jodie Marsh declared that she now believes that cannabis should be legal. Her words were genuine as she announced on international television to all of her viewers new and old that she would use cannabis for a sick relative before she would use the other poisonous alternatives. It’s an amazing thing to watch someones mind actually change. The experience was an unforgettable one  for everyone involved. One down…..one million to go!

In attendance that evening and featured above include:                                       Brittney Driver- Cannabist, Jordan Person- Primal Therapeutics, Jane West- Women Grow, Heidi Keyes- Puff, Pass and Paint, Jessica Catalano “The Ganja Kitchen Revolution” and Goldie Solodar- City Sessions.

Discussion Forum for Cannabis Infused Massage Therapy

Knowledge Is Power

JordanPerson-18Over the past year I have worked on patients from all over the globe including visitors from just about every state in the United States, as well as Australia, Guam, Canada, and all over the UK just to name a few. Each patient seemingly shares the same common interests: cannabis and wellness.  People that don’t usually receive massage therapy now want to receive it and want to discover the healing properties of cannabis for themselves. The fear factor normally met by patients wanting to experience something new for some reason fades away when cannabis is involved.  Patients inquisitive nature takes over their fears and they become more open to the possibility of a pain free and narcotic free life with the use of cannabis infused topical treatments.

For many, their first massage ever is a cannabis infused one and the first question is always the same, “will I get high?” My answer is always the same, “no, that is not the point of this type of bodywork, I started this company with the goal of educating people that it’s not always about getting high.”  If the products did cause a psychoactive response, I could not make it through a normal work day, I would be far too intoxicated to perform bodywork.  This answer generally leads to their next question, “do I need to worry about failing a drug test?” To date, no one has failed a drug test from the use of topical transmission of cannabis. The infused products are staying in the dermal level and are not entering the bloodstream.  This opens cannabis infused massage therapy to patients that can not use any other form of cannabis but still desire its therapeutic health benefits.

Patients of all kinds have contacted me in hopes that they will have some type of relief. I have treated numerous ages and conditions from MS in a 42 year old and Neuropathy in a 90 year old to Cancer in a 4 year old and PTSD in many ages. The benefits for each patient are seen repeatedly with each new diagnosis I get to work with.  Each patient notes a deeper sense of relaxation then typically felt after a massage. A reduction of pain, swelling and inflammation is noticed on chronic areas of discomfort as well as cutting healing time in half on numerous types of acute injuries. Increased blood flow to constricted and congested areas of discomfort allow for deeper bodywork to take place without needing to excessively perform deep tissue massage. The products work while I am working preventing hand and wrist pain as well as joint swelling. The benefits are many and the side effects are non-existent unlike most topical pain relief treatments found at your local pharmacy.

I look forward to the coming year and the continued advances of the growing field of cannabis infused massage therapy. Knowledge is power and the more science that comes out to support the theories behind these new techniques the better.  Primal Therapeutics hopes you will join our pursuit in continuing to spread the word that we no longer have to live in an over medicated society. We can go back to plant medicine and living holistically, using cannabis infused massage therapy as treatment instead of pharmaceuticals and chemical laden products.

Education on Cannabis Massage in Las Vegas

Live from Las Vegas!

Nevada Medical Marijuana Regulation Priorities…Live from Las Vegas

I was recently asked by a Nevada State Senator to come and give a presentation on Cannabis Infused Massage Therapy. It was my first time in Las Vegas and an incredible experience. Senator Segerblom and all of the distinguished members of the subcommittee were full of great questions regarding the regulations surrounding cannabis massage.

Senator Segerblom and I after my presentation

Nevada Senator Segerblom and Jordan Person, marijuana massage therapist and nurse

The new questions brought to light were eye opening regarding what regulations will be necessary in the future of cannabis infused massage therapy. Will the therapist require a new type of license? Will patients be mandated to hold a “red card” in order to receive services? Did the state boards of massage therapy need to provide permission for therapists to provide services? All of these questions and more were enough to spark my interest to continue the pursuit of the answers upon my return to Colorado.

I received a telephone call from a Las Vegas reporter one week after giving my presentation. They wanted to do a story on the businesses that are a result of the booming cannabis industry. Although my reasons for being there were strictly educational, it was an honor to be part of a news story.
