Education on Cannabis Massage in Las Vegas

Live from Las Vegas!

Nevada Medical Marijuana Regulation Priorities…Live from Las Vegas

I was recently asked by a Nevada State Senator to come and give a presentation on Cannabis Infused Massage Therapy. It was my first time in Las Vegas and an incredible experience. Senator Segerblom and all of the distinguished members of the subcommittee were full of great questions regarding the regulations surrounding cannabis massage.

The new questions brought to light were eye opening regarding what regulations will be necessary in the future of cannabis infused massage therapy. Will the therapist require a new type of license? Will patients be mandated to hold a “red card” in order to receive services? Did the state boards of massage therapy need to provide permission for therapists to provide services? All of these questions and more were enough to spark my interest to continue the pursuit of the answers upon my return to Colorado.

I received a telephone call from a Las Vegas reporter one week after giving my presentation. They wanted to do a story on the businesses that are a result of the booming cannabis industry. Although my reasons for being there were strictly educational, it was an honor to be part of a news story. This is a link to the story. http://www.mynews3.com/content/video/default.aspx?videoID=5309681

Narcotics need tougher regulations

It’s high time narcotics received tougher regulations!

An article in USA Today sparked my interest today. They are finally deciding in October how they will reclassify drugs like hydrocodone. This reclassification would include only allowing doctors to refill these life threatening drugs and no longer allowing their nurses and physicians assistants to call these prescriptions in. The new ruling will mandate doctors to write their prescriptions in 30-day increments that can only be filled sequentially. Cutting down the risk for abuse greatly.

I am originally from Florida the opiate capitol of the US and I sadly not only witnessed, but also myself fell victim to the over prescribed society that this nation has become. I saw too many friends loose everything they had, or their lives. I would have lost mine had I not moved to Colorado and gotten off every prescription drug they had me on and turned solely to Cannabis. There is not a doubt in my mind that if I would have not been shown a holistic approach to my own health care I would not be writing this right now. When I was sick and they could not find what was wrong with me, my symptoms only provoked more tests and the results only provoked more prescription pills and I only continued to become more ill.  Not a day goes by that I don’t think about how toxic I became and how toxic our whole country has become.

Prescription drugs are the #1 cause of death in the United States. They cause over 1 million annual hospital visits. According to the CDC  just under 17,000 deaths specific to opiate analgesics such as Lortab or Vicodin occurred in 2011. Prescription drugs are the answer to most questions you ask your physician. Our country is a despairing place that it has become easier to write a prescription and mask a symptom instead of looking for the cause and treating the root of the problem.

How many more people will die in this epidemic our country is facing?

Cannabis on the other hand has never and will never cause an overdose or death. Cannabis could effectively treat the withdrawal symptoms opiates cause due to its multifaceted capabilities.   The anti-anxiety and analgesic properties in cannabis are unsurpassed and chemical free which would allow an addict to come off the prescription drugs and not suffer the intense effects of detox.

Lets take it back to basics!

Vote to legalize Cannabis everywhere and save a life today!

Cannabis, Cancer and Alkalinity

Cannabis, Cancer and Alkalinity

Evidence has shown that high doses of the cannabinoid THC can destroy cancer cells. It’s not that THC causes cancer cells to ravenously and indiscriminately destroy themselves. Rather, by binding to certain cell-surface receptors, THC activates a cell signaling pathway that leads to cell death.

In 1976 President Gerald Ford put an end to all public cannabis research and granted exclusive research rights to major pharmaceutical companies, who set out to develop synthetic forms of THC that would deliver all the medical benefits without the “high.” These synthetic lab made derivatives of cannabis have been used since the 1980’s to relieve the side effects of cancer drugs.

Thanks to Rick Simpson publishing his findings after treating his own skin cancer, the use of cannabis oil for treating cancer finally began receiving the media attention it deserved.

The regimen that has been used to fight numerous types of cancer is to ingest pure cannabis oil made via a medical grade alcohol extraction at a rate of 1 gram per day and to ingest 60 grams in a 90 day period for the full effectiveness of the medicine. There are numerous blogs, YouTube videos and websites dedicated to teaching patients and their families how to make this life saving oil at home. Patients have used this cannabis oil in conjunction with an alkaline diet to reduce their tumor size in not only skin cancer but numerous other types of cancer as well.

Since the 1930’s we have been adjusting our pH balance as means of cancer treatment. The principles of pH therapy are very simple.  The metabolism of cancer cells has a very narrow pH tolerance for cellular proliferation (mitosis), which is between 6.5 and 7.5.  As such, if you can interfere with cancer cell metabolism by either lowering or raising the internal cancer cell pH, you can theoretically stop cancer progression. There is general agreement amongst natural healers and medical professionals alike, that changing a cancer patient’s diet is extremely helpful when someone is confronted with a cancer diagnosis.

Cannabis and the treatment of Crohn’s Disease

Cannabis and Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) which causes inflammation to the lining and wall of the large and/or small intestine. Symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, weight loss, and fever. Severe cases can lead to removal of affected bowel segments. Recently Crohn’s has received new attention in the media for the capabilities of using cannabis as a treatment for the disease.

The cannabinoids in marijuana interact with CB receptors in the colon, intestines, brain and nervous system in several ways that help Crohn’s patients.

  • Epithelial Permeability – THC has a protective effect; cannabinoids can enhance wound closure in the colon.
  • Leukocyte recruitment – Leukocytes (white blood cells) are involved in the defense of an organism and protect it from disease by promoting or inhibiting inflammatory responses.
  • Brain – Cannabinoid receptors in the brain provide reduced pain sensation, relief of nausea and feelings of “unpleasantness.”
  • Enteric Nervous System – Cannabinoid receptors control secretion and motility (the over-activity of the intestinal tract). THC has been found to relieve motility and inhibit secretion associated with inflammation of the gut providing relief from diarrhea.

Continuing research is key to providing all patients with the most effective therapy with the least amount of side effects. Cannabis is a gentle holistic approach to treatment as opposed to the steroid and immune suppressors often prescribed that are known to cause many additional complications and contribute to the debilitating effects of Crohn’s disease.
